Question :- What is materialistic and how come it is opposite to salvation ?
Answer – Nobody can enjoy the body of himself. And, the person already experienced with non-violence gets away form the mesmerism of sensual enjoyments. The non-violence in him becomes prominent. This can be explained in the following manner also :-
For experiencing non-violence two things are required.
Keeping restraint from all kinds of enjoyments.
Giving a rise to the ‘great’ inside you.
Getting restraint from materialistic enjoyments with force is not possible for that the great in your heart has to be risen up. The day ‘obstacles of mind’ get shredded up, that day you get connected to your all existence; the ‘great’ in you rises up. As long as your mind is erected in front of you as an obstacle, you are separated from your own existence. It is because of that mind for which you want enjoyment, and for enjoyments – the sense of separateness is must. That is the reason why the person enjoying is ruthless and violent at his smallness. He becomes selfish. But, monotony makes the human being feel bored, and the opposite takes birth in him, which is calles salvation. A person is going against his own mind stands in the ‘blankness’ (SHUNYA). It is a natural process which can’t be carried out forcibly.
Buddha, Mahavir got success in it, because the reluctance towards all enjoyments of life was naturally created in them. We are trying to achieve it forcibly ! Forcing into it creates mental de-stability, not peace. Peace is like taking a rest. Getting a rest without being fatigue is useless. The motive of religion is only towards the completeness of life, not salvation.
Jainis acknowledge that- "God is inactive, and I am active. Being active in this world, I got all types of miseries. ‘O’ God ! Make me free by making me inactive.
